BDSM play partners and casual kinky encounters in the second busiest city on Kinky Singles. Say what you’re into and see who’s close by.

First meetings

Pick a place that makes the first hour easy

Start in daylight, somewhere busy, with a way out already planned. In winter, pick one with a roof: South African Tourism says much of the Western Cape’s rain falls then, while the rest of the country gets its rain in summer.

  • De Waterkant

Wikipedia calls this historic suburb beside the city centre the city’s gay village, with brightly coloured buildings on streets that are sometimes still cobbled. It is popular with young professionals and tourists, and the Cape Quarter shopping mall is here.

  • Observatory

Known as Obs for short. Wikipedia describes a student neighbourhood near the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital.

  • V&A Waterfront

Wikipedia names it Cape Town’s most visited tourist destination, with a big mall, a marina and hotels on the site of the Southern Hemisphere’s oldest working harbour. Check opening hours before you pick a time.

  • Gardens

Wikipedia says this suburb beneath Table Mountain centres on Company’s Garden, a heritage site and public park, with museums and Kloof Street’s restaurants close by.

Groups and play parties

Looking for a dungeon or a group in Cape Town?

Kinky Singles is where you find people, and the Dungeon Parties tag on your profile tells the right members what you are after. A venue or a group is a separate question, so read each organiser’s own words.

Casa Kink describes itself on its own site as a consent-led community offering play parties, educational workshops, social events and themed gatherings around BDSM and kink at two Cape Town sites, with consent monitors at events. That is the group’s description, not our recommendation, so read its current dates, rules and age limit before you go. Our guide to kinky dating sites and groups lists others that describe themselves publicly.

How do you get there and back safely?

The UK government’s travel advice for South Africa names the MyCiTi bus as a safer way to get around Cape Town. Wikipedia says the gap between buses runs from 3 to 20 minutes at peak times and can stretch to 60 when it is quiet, so check the timetable before you rely on it for the last leg home.

The same advice says not to walk around after dark and urges caution hiking in Table Mountain National Park, especially in early mornings and evenings. Wikipedia calls the popular hike up the mountain a serious tour that needs fitness, preparation and hiking equipment, so keep it for a later date.

Flying in to meet someone? Arrange your pick-up before you land, and check the registration and the driver before you get in: the same advice warns about unregulated drivers posing as app taxi drivers, especially at airports. In an emergency, dial 112 from a mobile or 10111 for the police. Read the current version of the advice before you travel.
